I’m Noëlle Janaczewska, a Sydney-based writer of performance, poetry, and essays. You can find out more about my work in these areas and read excerpts at noelle-janaczewska.com.
Food and the various rituals and practices that surround it have been a recurring element in my writing for many years. So much so that I decided it was time for me to consolidate that interest into Eat The Table.
In the late 1990s I published a number of food-themed personal essays and essay-fictions. My doctorate investigated the food-migration nexus. A number of my plays and radio scripts have involved food—sometimes literally, sometimes as metaphor. And recent work in environmental history not only reignited my desire to write about food and its cultural hinterlands, but has provided a fresh perspective on matters culinary.
